In the US, we’re gearing up to celebrate Thanksgiving.  For many of us, that means gathering with family and friends (and possibly traveling to do so).

After an election cycle that was the most stressful of my lifetime, this is the perfect time to take a moment, to breathe, and to reflect on gratitude. Thankfulness can be difficult. With the election behind us and uncertainty in front of us, taking a moment to thank ourselves and our loved ones is a simple yet profound gesture. This week we’re sharing a simple but effective foot soak that you can pull together almost anywhere.

Herbal Foot Soak

Soaking the feet encourages circulation by dilating the blood vessels, drawing the blood to circulate from the head down to your toes. This combination of aromatic herbs quiets the senses.

Ingredients:

  • 5 drops lavender essential oil || Alleviates tension, stress, and insomnia
  • 1 tsp dried ginger or ¼ cup fresh ginger, roughly chopped || Aids in circulation, relieves motion sickness and creates heat to help the body rid itself of toxins
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary or a handful of sprigs fresh rosemary || Calms the nervous system
  • 1/4 cup Soapwalla’s Recover Indulgent Bath Soaking Salts

Place the herbs in a large pot on the stovetop and fill with water. Cover and bring water to a low simmer for 5-10 minutes. Find a comfortable place to sit and recline while you soak. Place the basin in front of the chair and fill with the heated herb mixture. Add in Soaking Salts. Adjust the temperature as desired by adding cool water. We like to keep the foot bath on the hotter side, but not too hot so as to burn your feet. Place feet in basin and cover with a towel. Sit back, turn off your phone and relax for 10-20 minutes.
